Day 63 - A Thanksgiving Day Message from Tommy

Hi everyone. It's me Tommy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

My mom Laura said It's Thanksgiving tradition to list everything you're thankful for.

I'm thankful for my roots, my flowers, and for being able to grow delicious tomatoes.

I'm also thankful for my string, my clippers, my dripper, and I really like being green! I'm the same color as my favorite muppet Kermit the Frog!

I'm thankful for getting to grow up here at Beylik Family Farms. My house was designed and built by my grandfather and great-grandfather to provide me with with the perfect amount of sunshine, food and water.

Most of all, I'm thankful for being cared for by parents that truly love me.

I'm also thankful for people reading my blog.

My dad said my blog is getting so popular that I should make a logo for it. I said what's a logo?

He explained a logo is a graphic design that represents my blog.

I worked on a logo all day yesterday. Do you want to see it?

What do you think? I showed it to my brothers and sisters and they all seem to like it. I hope you like it too.

Let me tell you about my week. My brothers and sisters and I have grown a lot! My dad says now that we're all teenagers, we're growing faster than ever.

Take a look at the picture below.

4-feet-tall.jpg

I'm 48 inches tall! That's 4 feet! At this rate, I'll be 20 feet tall someday! I do want to play for the Dodgers but maybe I should consider a professional basketball career instead.

And you'll never guess how fast my first tomatoes are growing!

Take a look below.

Can you believe it? My tomatoes have tripled in size in just one week!

My mom is so proud of how much we're all growing that she took a group photo.

I'm so lucky to have so many brothers and sisters to play with.

Oh! Sorry everyone. I've got go. My mom says it's time to wash up for our Thanksgiving meal.

My mom and dad have been in the kitchen cooking all morning. It smells so good! I can't wait to eat!

See you all next week!

Tommy.

Day 70 - My First Haircut!

Hi everyone. It's me Tommy!

I've had another great week growing up here at Beylik Family Farms in Fillmore. The highlight of my week was getting my first haircut!

Before I tell you all about it, my dad said he wants me to show you a picture of my tomatoes.

Don't they look great!

My dad Scott is so proud of me for growing such beautiful tomatoes. I told him I don't even have to think about it, my tomatoes just keep on growing! I think it has something to do with how much my mom and dad love me and how well they take care of me.

OK. Let me tell you about first haircut!

My mom, dad, aunts and uncles all love to give haircuts.

At first, I was afraid because I thought it might hurt; but it didn't hurt at all! It actually felt good!

Take a look at the video below. It's my uncle Jose and my uncle Isedro giving us all a trim.

I love my family. My dad said not only does my haircut make me look handsome, it also helps my tomatoes grow!

Take a look at the picture below.

My dad said now that I'm trimmed, my tomatoes will get more light. I told him I can feel the warm sunshine hitting my tomatoes and it feels so good!

He asked me, "Now can you fell a breeze?" I said, "Yes! I can feel it!" My dad said the breeze will keep my stem nice and dry and prevent mold from growing.

Isn't my dad the smartest farmer on the planet? I'm so lucky to have him as my dad.

Oh! Sorry everyone. I have to go. My mom is calling me. I think it's time for lunch. I'll bet we're having more leftovers from Thanksgiving. I love turkey sandwiches!

See you all next week!
Tommy.

Day 77 - The Perfect Temperature

Hi everyone. It's me Tommy!

My mom Laura was just here eating lunch with my brothers and sisters and I and she took a group photo. Check it out below.

group.jpg

My mom is so proud of us. She's always taking pictures of us, saying nice things about us, and encouraging us to grow the best tomatoes in the world. I have the best mom ever!

Take a look at the picture below. You'll never guess how tall I'm getting!

That's right! 5 feet 9 inches! I'm almost 6 Feet Tall!

Oh! And here's another picture for you. My dad Scott is so proud of my tomatoes. He wanted me to show you how good and healthy they're looking.

Don't they look amazing! My mom said if she entered my tomatoes into a best tomato contest, I would win first place! See what I mean. My mom is always saying nice things to me.

You'll never guess what my dad told me today.

I thought my brothers and sisters and I were growing such amazing tomatoes because we all get three meals a day, lots of sunshine, and it's so peaceful here on the farm at night that we all get plenty of sleep.

But my dad said there's more to it than that! He said it's because when grandpa and great-grandpa built our house, they designed it to keep us at the perfect temperature.

Take a look at the picture below.

This is one of our temperature sensors. It constantly keeps track of the temperature in our house.

My dad says the perfect temperature during the day is between 72 and 74 degrees, and at night, it's between 58 and 62 degrees. Our house has heating and air conditioners that keep my brothers and sisters and I at the perfect temperature all day and all night long!

Aren't my parents are the greatest? They spend so much time and money making sure we have the best childhood ever growing up here at Beylik Family Farms.

I'm the luckiest tomato plant in the world!

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. My dad told me the funniest joke today. It goes "How does a train eat? It chew-chews."

I laughed so hard I almost split one of my tomatoes!

Thank you for reading this week's blog post. I've got to go now. I have to tell all of my brothers and sister dad's joke.

See you all next week!
Tommy.

Day 84 - I'm Taller Than My Dad!

Hi everyone. It's me Tommy!

My brothers and sisters and I had a great week here at Beylik Family Farms. My mom Laura and Dad Scott spend so much time with us making sure we're all well taken care of.

You'll never guess how much I've grown! Take a look at the picture below.

I'm 6 feet 3 inches tall!

Do you know how tall that is? Take a look below!

dad.jpg

I'm taller than my dad!

My dad is so proud of me for growing so tall and handsome. In fact, he whispered into my ear and said I was the best looking tomato plant in the family! It made me feel special but my dad probably tells all of us that. He's just like my mom. Always encouraging us to be the best tomato plant we can be and to grow the best tomatoes ever!

Speaking of tomatoes, take a look below.

fruit.jpg

Don't my tomatoes look great! They almost double in size every week.

I love being a tomato plant. I get to live in a great house that was built specially for me, I get the best food, water and sunshine here on the farm, and I get to be my favorite color. Green!

In fact, I'm surrounded by green! Take a look at the picture below.

group.jpg

Don't my brothers and sisters and I look great!

Oh! Wait! My dad just said, "Don't get used to all the green Tommy. Something is about to happen."

I asked him, "What's about to happen?" and he said, "You'll have to wait Tommy, It's a surprise!"

I love surprises!

Come back next week everyone and maybe I'll have a surprise to share with you.

See you all next week!

Tommy.

Day 91 - It's My Mom!

Hi everyone. It's me Tommy!

I have a special surprise for you this week!

My mom Laura is usually camera shy; but this week my dad Scott talked her into letting him take her picture.

mom.jpg

Look everyone! It's a picture of me and my mom! Don't we look great together!

My mom takes such great care of my brothers and sisters and I here on the farm. She's always making sure we have plenty to eat, that we're not too warm or too cold, and most of all, she's always telling us how much she loves us. I've got the best mom in the world!

After dad took the picture of me and mom, he asked me what I learned in school that day.

I told him I learned about the importance of eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise.

Then I asked, "I know I get plenty of exercise because my brothers and sister and I are always playing games like tag, baseball, and Frisbee; but do I have a healthy diet?"

My dad smiled and said, "Yes Tommy. Your diet is healthy and designed just for you, a Big Beef tomato plant."

Take a look at the picture below.

dripper.jpg

It's a picture of me and my dripper. My dad said every day I eat 5.5 cups of a mixture of nutrients from my dripper that includes 16 drops of nitrogen, 1 drop of phosphorous, 8 drops of potassium, 6 drops of calcium, 2.5 drops of magnesium, and 2 drops of sulfur.

Wow! I'm getting nutrients I've never even heard of!

My diet must be working. Take a look at the picture below.

fruit.jpg

Aren't those the best looking tomatoes you've ever seen!

My dad is so smart. He knows everything about raising healthy tomato plants. I'm so lucky to be growing up here at Beylik Family Farms!

Now that I know I'm eating a healthy diet, I'm going to make sure I'm getting plenty of exercise.

I'm going to go ask my dad if wants to play catch. I'm also going to ask for a new glove. My tomatoes are getting so big, they barely fit inside!

See you all next week!
Tommy.
